1. Growing up, what were some of your first beauty memories?
My first beauty memories are definitely centered around nail and hair salons with my mom and grandmother. I loved going with them to get mani-pedis and blowouts when I was younger and it’s something we do to this day. The three of us always make it a point to visit a nail salon together when we’re in the same city. There’s just something so great about feeling pretty, taking care of yourself and hanging out with the women you look up to.
2. Who taught you about beauty or was it something you discovered on your own?
Beauty is definitely something I learned on my own through social media and YouTube. However, my mom did play a huge role in my skincare routine, which goes hand in hand with beauty. I was taught to ALWAYS wear sunscreen, ALWAYS moisturize and ALWAYS take my makeup off before bed. These are three things that I have been doing my whole life and will pass down to my children!
3. Who is your favorite celebrity that always slays her / his beauty look?
Desi Perkins for sure. That woman is just so beautiful, has the BEST skin and always, always, always looks great. Whether she is snap chatting from bed or a boat, her skin, hair and makeup is always flawless. I love her and I also think she does a great job at sharing her beauty secrets.
4. What are your Beauty-rituals?
A.M.
In the morning, I’ve learned that it is actually best not to wash your face with soap. Instead, I rinse off with water and go over with a witch hazel toner. From there, I moisturize with Cetaphil and then apply sunscreen followed by my beauty routine. Simple, yet satisfying!
P.M.
After I shower, I’ll cleanse my skin with CeraVe face wash. I’ll then use Yes to Tomatoes Detoxifying Charcoal Facial Wipes to get rid of any excess makeup I may have on. Once my skin is completely clean, I’ll go ahead and use my witch hazel toner followed by my Cetaphil moisturizer.
Once I’m prepped, I’ll apply a serum, switching between the Glossier Super Pure Serum and the Elle & Eve Anti Aging Vitamin C Serum! I apply Ole Henriksen anti-aging eye cream under my eyes and a prescription acne medicine all over my skin. If I have a blemish, my good old Mario Badesco drying lotion will make an appearance!
5. When traveling, what’s a must-have product in your carry-on?
Makeup removing face wipes, moisturizer and chapstick. My skin takes a turn for the worse when I travel, so I need a clean face always when on an airplane. I stick to only drinking water in flight, as well. Moisture is the key to traveling without breaking out!
6.What does self-care look like for you?
Self-care for me is staying hydrated, staying active and working out once a day and pampering myself with some sort of face or sheet mask before bedtime. I really value my alone time at the end of the day, and nothing sounds better to me than laying in bed with Netflix on doing some sort of treatment on my skin. I think it’s so important to take care of your skin from a young age. The more you care for it now, the better it will look when you’re older. I’ve learned that from my mom and grandmother, who both look incredible!
7.How do you pamper yourself?
I really love to treat myself to facials and massages as often as I can. I work a lot and I am always out and about, so being able to escape for a few hours and have someone take care of me is something I really appreciate and love to do.
8. What’s your favorite go-to LOCAL spots to get a treatment?
I am obsessed with the Hydra Facial at Arviv Aesthetics in Midtown Miami. The facial is pretty inexpensive for what it is, the facility is clean, welcoming and convenient and I LOVE Dr. Arviv. I’ll try to get this done monthly, it is the best way to get a really deep clean facial.
9. Do you give yourself facials or body treatments at home?
I try to give myself a facial at least once a week. I’m big into skincare/face masks – I literally have a whole drawers dedicated to my mask collection. I’ll use the Aztec Clay Mask weekly, after a hot shower, making it with apple cider vinegar and tea tree oil. Because that mask is so drying, I’ll follow it with a moisturizing sheet mask. Definitely something I recommend to anyone who wants to do a facial type treatment at home.
10. Are you a bath or shower person?
Nowadays I am definitely a shower person, only because my apartment has a shower. However, my bathroom at my parents house has an amazing jacuzzi bathtub that I loved to use weekly! There’s nothing like a bath bomb and some music to help end a busy day.
